The desire for a beautiful smile is a common reason for orthodontic treatment. While traditional metal braces are effective, they are often considered unattractive for aesthetic reasons. Modern dentistry offers a solution:  invisible braces  that discreetly, comfortably, and effectively correct misaligned bites and crooked teeth. But how much does it cost?

How much does an invisible brace cost?

The price for invisible braces varies depending on the brand chosen and the place of manufacture.

Generally speaking, the price usually starts at around 70,000 CZK.

What are invisible braces?

Invisible braces are  transparent orthodontic appliances  that are virtually invisible. The most common type  used is aligners  – a series of precisely manufactured, transparent plastic trays that gradually move the teeth into the ideal position.

Thanks to their transparency, they are virtually invisible when speaking and smiling normally, which is ideal for adult patients and teenagers who want to straighten their teeth without metal wires on their front teeth.

What are the advantages and disadvantages of invisible braces?

✅ Advantages of invisible braces

  1. Discretion  – thanks to the transparent material, they are virtually invisible.
  2. Comfort  – no metal wires and brackets, less gum irritation.
  3. Removable  – they allow for easier tooth brushing and unrestricted eating.
  4. Predictable results  – digital planning enables precise planning of tooth movement.
  5. Short visits to the orthodontist  – regular check-ups are quick and effective.

⛔ Disadvantages of invisible braces

  1. Discipline and a sense of responsibility  – you must wear your braces for at least 20-22 hours a day.
  2. Suitability  – unlike traditional braces, they cannot be used in all cases.
  3. Price  – more expensive than traditional braces.

How do you care for invisible braces?

  • You wear them for 20-22 hours a day  – only take them off to eat and brush your teeth.
  • Clean regularly  – rinse the aligners and clean them with a soft brush to prevent bacterial growth.
  • Make sure you adhere to the treatment plan  – regular visits to the orthodontist ensure optimal tooth movement.
  • Pay attention to the condition of your teeth and gums  – slight tension is normal, but consult a doctor if you experience pain.

How long does the treatment take?

The duration of treatment depends on the severity of the defect and the patient’s age. For minor corrections, treatment can be completed within  6–9 months  , while for moderate defects, it typically takes  12–24 months  . The advantage is that the patient can see progress within the first few weeks of wearing the aligners.

How do invisible braces work?

After an initial consultation and the creation of a 3D X-ray,  a digital treatment plan is  developed, specifying the exact movement of each individual tooth. A series  of custom aligners is then  manufactured, which the patient changes gradually – usually every one to two weeks – according to the orthodontist’s instructions.

Each aligner moves the teeth slightly, gradually leading to the desired result. The total duration of the treatment depends on the complexity of the malocclusion, but most patients see initial results within a few weeks.

Who are invisible braces suitable for?

Invisible braces are suitable for patients with mild to moderate misalignments and crooked teeth. They are ideal for:

  • Correction of a mild crossbite or open bite
  • Moving individual teeth or minor correction of a gap between teeth
  • Patients who desire a discreet solution without metal braces

For more complex orthodontic problems, a combined solution or a classic fixed brace may be recommended.

Are invisible braces suitable for children?

Invisible braces  can  be suitable for children, but this depends on their age and maturity. Here are the most important factors:

Age of the child

  • They are usually recommended from the age of 12 to 14 years, when the child already has all their permanent teeth.
  • For younger children, traditional braces are often the better choice.
  • There are special versions (e.g. Invisalign Teen) that have been developed for teenagers.

When are they appropriate?

  • For responsible teenagers
  • If a child is motivated to wear them correctly
  • For minor orthodontic problems

Recommendation:  It is advisable to consult an orthodontist who can assess both the child’s orthodontic needs and their maturity and ability to care for aligners. Many orthodontists recommend traditional braces for younger or less responsible children.

Which brand of invisible braces should I choose? Invisalign, Alphalign, or Spark?

When choosing invisible braces, the most frequently encountered brand is Invisalign, which has been on the market for over 20 years and has the largest network of certified orthodontists.

An alternative are Spark Aligners, which are made from the more transparent TruGEN material and are often cheaper.

Other brands include Alphalign, ClearCorrect, 3M Clarity Aligners, and SureSmile. In our practice, we use the  Modern Clear  system from Germany.

However, when choosing a brand, the orthodontist’s experience with the system is the most important factor. An experienced doctor will achieve better results with a premium brand than a less experienced specialist.

How do you clean invisible braces?

Daily cleaning: Invisible braces should be cleaned every  morning and evening  with a soft toothbrush and lukewarm water. You can use a small amount of mild soap or a special aligner cleaner, but not toothpaste, as this can scratch and dull the surface.

Rinse your aligners with water after each removal to prevent bacterial growth. It’s also important to brush your teeth before putting your aligners back in. Otherwise, food particles and bacteria can get trapped between your teeth and the aligners.

⛔  What you should avoid:  Never use hot water, as this can deform and damage the aligners. Also, avoid colored drinks while wearing aligners – coffee, tea, or red wine can cause staining.

Once a week, you can soak your aligners for 15–20 minutes in special cleaning tablets or a denture solution for more thorough disinfection. Store your aligners in their case and never wrap them in a tissue, as they could get lost or damaged.

Frequently Asked Questions

A dental implant is an artificial tooth root replacement that is placed into the jawbone and serves as a stable foundation for a crown, bridge, or denture. It is made of biocompatible titanium, which integrates with the bone tissue in a process called osseointegration.

The procedure is performed under local anesthesia, so the patient feels no pain during the placement. After the procedure, mild swelling or sensitivity may occur, which usually subsides within a few days. Most patients report that the procedure was much more comfortable than they expected.

With proper care, a dental implant can last decades, often a lifetime. The key factors are consistent oral hygiene, regular dental check-ups, and avoiding habits that could damage the implant, such as teeth grinding without a night guard.

The price varies depending on the type of implant, materials used, and the complexity of the case. A single implant with a crown typically starts from approximately 36,000 CZK. The exact price is determined by the dentist after a thorough consultation and examination.
